Accurate shaping and forming of sheet metal is an important part of sheet metal fabrication. There are many dedicated tools to help the fabricator form custom shapes; and one of the oldest forms of metal shaping is to use a hammer or mallet and pound the metal by hand into a leather bag filled with shot which absorbs the blows to create shapes. Leather shot bags are filled bags which are used in metal shaping. They are double stitched and reinforced with heavy thread through their perimeter. They are filled with silica sand or lead shot through a funnel and then sealed with a double Velcro closure. This 6"" bag is small enough to fit into tight spaces and is great for working with small parts.
